How to Wash Linen Clothes?
It's not complicated; linen is easy to wash and care for. We provide a detailed guide, but if you have specific questions, feel free to leave a comment.
Guide for Washing Linen Clothes
-
Read the Label
Always check the garment's label for specific washing instructions. If it’s 100% linen, then the guide is 100% applicable; otherwise, it will depend on the blends.
-
Sorting Clothes
Wash linen with similar colors to avoid color transfer, but you can mix it with cotton or other fabrics. Be cautious with linen sheers, as they are more delicate and may pill on other garments.
-
Pre-Treatment
If the linen is heavily soiled, you can pre-treat it by applying detergent directly onto the stains.
-
Machine Selection
Use a low-temperature cycle (30°C or 40°C max if very dirty) to avoid damaging the fibers. Also, avoid fast spins; 1200 RPM is more than sufficient.
-
Using Detergent
Opt for a mild detergent, such as a color-safe detergent that is free from bleach, to help your colors last longer.
-
Drying
Personally, I prefer using the dryer, although it's not ideal since too much dryer use can wear down the fibers. However, if the garment is new and relatively thick, the dryer can help soften the fabric, especially if you use a bit of softener. This allows the softening agents to bond with the fabric fibers, making clothes softer.
-
Ironing
Iron linen when the garment is not completely dry for the best results. Alternatively, lightly mist it with water using a spray bottle. Linen is very durable, and I use a professional steam iron on maximum heat without any issues.
That’s it! If you have any tips, I’d love to hear them, and I’m sure our customers would too!
